The Latest Trends in HR Technology

Technology is revolutionizing the HR world, as HR professionals have many solutions to the numerous HR processes that include: recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, compliance, and more. Here are some of the latest and greatest trends shaping HR:

Mobile Optimization

We live in a mobile world, and unlimited information is in the hand of every person who owns a smart-phone.  According to the most recent findings from the Pew Research Center, 77% of adults in the United States own a smartphone, while the numbers climb as high as 92% in the 18-29 age range. Not to be outdone, the 30-49 age group follows closely behind, with 88% being smartphone owners. In addition to that, 74% of people aged 50-64 have one.

Millennials are the most active on mobile, with 78% using mobile devices to find jobs as of 2016, and 73% of Gen Xers. In recent years, Baby Boomers have seen the highest increase in mobile job search among the three generations, with around 57.2% of Boomers active in 2016, up from just 51.2% in 2014.

The latest technologies understand the absolute imperative of being able to communicate with people on the move. Websites and communications platforms have to be optimized for mobile devices, creating a workable and user-friendly experience.

Cloud-Based Solutions

The days of paper record keeping for HR are pretty much obsolete, and the generation of record-based systems is making its way “out the door” as well. PDFs, file shares, emails, and spread-sheets were the next evolutionary step in helping HR professionals do their job, but they have left risky gaps in compliance and communication.

Cloud-based solutions allow for content-centric systems to close the gaps and mitigate the risks for businesses. These systems give access and “push” communication to HR, employees, management, and anyone else who needs to be in the know of next steps in numerous HR processes.

Cloud-based systems also allow for easy maintenance and updating of the latest versions of software, while maintaining documents and important information accessible, yet protected.

Automation

Intelligent automation is the present future, and it is the thing that HR dreams are made of. By utilizing cloud-based technology, intelligent “bots” can be leveraged to complete essential work while the human team is doing the things that only humans can do like: leadership, helping with career development, communication, and more. Automation also assures that important steps aren’t skipped in compliance processes, while also making sure that projects are completed on time.

HR professionals can use the time freed up by automation to invest in the things that matter most to their employees and business.

Digital Recruiting

Of course, long gone are the days of jobs being listed in the newspaper. There are numerous ways to get out the word today, using talent websites and social media. With remote workers and the globalism of the workforce, potential candidates can be reached from any part of the world by leveraging online tools.

The real world of HR professionals today requires an understanding of the digital world. We continue to see how business is being shaped by both human power and technology, and it’s just the beginning!
